How does it work?
We start with an initial appointment to assess your child.
Â
An independent literacy assessment gives us a clear understanding of your child's learning profile. It highlights the factors holding back their progress and outlines what needs to be done to help them succeed and build confidence with literacy.
What we assess:
âś“
Knowledge gaps that may be holding them back.
âś“
Their developmental stage of phonological and phonemic awareness (essential pre-reading skills).
âś“
Letter-to-sound knowledge that needs strengthening.
âś“
Reading ability compared to children of the same age.
âś“
Spelling ability compared to children of the same age.
What you’ll receive from this appointment:
- A range of evidence-based assessments to measure your child’s skills against Australian standards.
- A detailed 3/4 page written report explaining all results clearly.
- Recommended goals and key areas to address for skill improvement and a planned course of remediation to improve reading and spelling skills.
- An opportunity to discuss the results so you fully understand where your child is and what steps are needed to help them thrive with literacy.
