Why is structured literacy the gold standard?
Structured literacy is backed by decades of research into how the brain learns to read. It teaches reading and spelling in a clear, systematic way, helping children build strong foundational skills step by step.
The well-known UK Rose Report (2006) found that high-quality systematic phonics should be taught as the âprime approachâ to learning to read and spell.
Unlike approaches that encourage guessing from pictures or memorising whole words, structured literacy teaches children how words actually work. Children learn to use the sounds and patterns within words so they can accurately read and spell unfamiliar words independently.
This is especially important for children with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or those who have struggled with non-evidence-based reading instruction such as balanced literacy or whole language approaches.
At All Kids Can Education, we use evidence-based Orton-Gillingham and Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) instruction because both the research and our experience consistently show these approaches improve reading, spelling, and writing outcomes for struggling learners.

The Phonics Club gives your family access to 12+ months of recorded Orton-Gillingham and MSL structured literacy lessons designed to help your child improve reading and spelling at home. It includes printable resources, interactive games, and fun learning activities to build strong foundational skills step by step.
Home Reading Program
Step into Literacy is an on-demand, 8-module video course that teaches parents exactly how to help their child improve reading and spelling at home. Ideal for homeschoolers (but not exclusively) and students needing to 'catch up' with reading and spelling. The course includes structured video lessons, printable resources, and simple, step-by-step guidance using an evidence-based structured literacy approach.

You are worth your weight in gold!
Our daughter Charli has been having trouble learning to read since prep and was really struggling at school. As such, her confidence in herself for reading was very low, compounding on her difficulties. Luckily for us, I found Kristy online and from the initial phone conversation that I had with Kristy, I knew that she knew her stuff and was passionate about helping kids. Six months later, Charli has improved in leaps and bounds. She now knows how to sound out her words and is less frustrated at home at reading time. Life Changing!
We are 3 terms into tutoring with Kristy, and to say it has been life changing for our 8 year old son is an understatement!
After a dyslexia diagnosis and almost rock bottom confidence, he is now thriving and his attitude towards learning has completely transformed. 20th Percentile to the 70th Percentile
My 9yo son has made remarkable progress with his spelling since starting lessons with Jane at All Kids Can.
In just one year, he went from being in the 20th percentile to the 70th percentile - an incredible leap. His overall literacy has grown so much, and his confidence has too. He no longer dreads doing writing at school; instead, he approaches it with far more ease and belief in himself. Furthermore, his lessons are engaging, and he looks forward to them every week.

He has lifted his English results from a D to a C.
Just wanted to reach out and say thank you very much for the great work you are all doing tutoring Josh over the past year and a half. Lou and I had a very proud parent moment last semester when his report card came out. He has worked hard and lifted his English results from a D to a C.
